Cross Country and Track
Our cross country and track and field teams participate in the CPS Score program which allows all student athletes the opportunity to participate. 5/6th grade cross country runners compete by running the one mile race and 7/8 graders compete in the 1.5 mile race. In track and field, there are sprinting events, distance events, and field events consisting of long jump and shot put. Our athletes get to try it all to see what the best fit will be for each individual. Burley is proud to say that we usually have several athletes qualify to compete in the city-wide championships in both cross country and track and field! Our running sports are coached by Burley teachers Todd Medintz, Melissa Lewis, and Jackie Ferrentino.
Volleyball & Basketball
Our volleyball and basketball teams compete in the
Big Chicago league. Our basketball teams also compete in the Northside Basketball League, with a combination of private and public schools. Our teams practice multiple times per week and play a ~10 game season for volleyball, ~20 game season for basketball. Our volleyball coach is Burley teacher, Anna Pedtke. Burley basketball teams are coached by Burley teachers
Matt Lewis and Danielle Moore.
Burley coaches work hard to teach our athletes the fundamentals of each sport and to develop a love for the game. We instill a team first mentality and emphasize hard work, sportsmanship, and competition across every sport.
