The music program at Burley promotes a child’s artistic, cognitive, social and mathematical development. Students begin learning and practicing the fundamentals of music, engage in large group vocal and instrumental ensembles.
Key Features of our Music Program
General Music K-2
Students learn and sing musical selections from around
the globe, practice breathing and
posture, play rhythm instruments, and
engage in kinesthetic activities
combining sound and movement.
Grade 3 Choir and Recorder
Third grade students transition engage in more focused music study through both vocal and instrumental ensembles. By the end of third
grade, Burley students have a strong
foundation in theoretical concepts, vocal ensembles, and instrumental music.
Band and Choir
In grades 4 and up, students choose to pursue band or choir, developing their musicianship to a more advanced level, learning to participate and perform as a group, and building habits of practice, focus, and perseverance.
