Writing
A dedicated writing period is part of the school day for every student. We believe that ongoing, focused writing instruction and practice are essential to student growth and success. Authentic reasons to write and publish can help every student build skill, confidence, stamina, and joy as a writer in a way that isolated activities cannot. Students learn to write in multiple genres, including personal narratives, persuasive and expository essays, how-to books, poetry, and short fiction. Completed writing is published, celebrated, and shared with peers and families.
