Mathematics
At Burley, our math instruction emphasizes process over product. Our students become problem solvers and apply previously learned knowledge and concepts to new situations. Students work collaboratively to solve problems and utilize discussions with classmates to enhance their understanding of mathematical concepts. Technology integration helps make the learning relevant by allowing students to examine real-world problems and realize how they might be able to use their mathematical knowledge to help improve our world.
Key Features of our Mathematics Program
Hands on, dynamic learning
Student mathematicians apply principles to complex problem solving and real world issues.
Collaboration and engagement
Rich discussions dive into a topic conceptually and push students to explain their understanding. Environments that fosters perseverance and resilience where students are encouraged to use a multitude of tools to solve problems.
Algebra for all 8th graders
Every Burley student learns Algebra and takes the CPS Algebra Exit Exam for high school placement.
